  16. I was at the Amiga show in London this weekend and got myself a lovely
  17. bag of goodies including the Dataflyer4000SX and that removable Syquest
  18. drive
  19. which I cant remeber its cute name of at the moment.

  21. After several hours of toiling I got the thing to work. Most issues were
  22. from
  23. not reading the instructions fully and some bad connections.
  24.  
  25. The removable Syquest is now my only SCSI drive.
  26.  
  27. Now I have a few questions:
  28.  
  29. 1) If I don't have a disk in the syquest or it is not turned on when I
  30. boot
  31.    I have to wait the 60 seconds before the boot starts (presumably a
  32. card
  33.    reset) and then the drive is not recognised. Is there any way in
  34. improving
  35.    this?. Would the addition of a real SCSI harddrive remove the 60
  36. second 
  37.    issue?. Is there any software which can recognise the drive after a
  38. boot up.

  40. 2) I found the software which checks the syquest every 5 seconds or so
  41. for
  42.    any change in the disk. However I still seem to be getting a confused
  43.    system. If I remove a disk, this is not recognised by workbench and
  44. any
  45.    access to a file on this removed drive causes a disk read error. I
  46. only have
  47.    the one disk at the moment so I cannot fully test this software. 
  48.    Is there any other software about which can improve on this e.g. Icon
  49. removed
  50.    when disk removed.
  51.  
  52. 3) Do I have to go through the provided prep software to format every
  53. new 
  54.    disk?.
  55.  
  56. I still have to play with DOPUS5, TurboPrint and TT2-Pro :)

  58. And I got a 4mg 70ns 72pin sim for 45 pounds :]. I have 12mg fast.

  60. ideas on how to use it apart from making everything resident?

  62. By the way, the show was packed when I got there, could have done with
  63. some
  64. more stalls, in particular Phase 5 could have been there with loads of
  65. Hardware. oh well, it saved me some money. I couldn't get hold of AFS
  66. either :(
